"Think Globally, Act Socially - PM4Children"

The participants of the PM4 Learning Program, in which they are trained as Project Practitioners, are developing and executing charity events within the scope of the Siemens-Unicef-Campaign. They learn project management methods and skills, which are then used and implemented in their real projects.

The project goal is to collect as much donations and/or supporting members as possible for Unicef. In the process the course participants contribute in an active manner to the strengthening of Siemens' corporate principles of social responsibility.

On the left side of this page you find the currently planed and already realized PM4 Children projects of the different Pm4 programs.

These are the current projects of the participants:

PM4Children Projects for Afghanistan
Since March 2004 the PM4 participants have been very successful with their projects in supporting the Siemens-Unicef educational initiative in Afghanistan "Bring girls to school!" Unicef uses the funds from these projects to set up schools in Afghanistan.

The goal of the Siemens-UNICEF campaign is to enable 6,000 girls to attend school, especially those girls who have not been at school for years. With the support of Siemens, UNICEF has established 50 learning centers for girls who need to make up school work, usually in community buildings, private homes or tents. 150 women are being trained as teachers. The girls receive school materials, such as books, exercise books and pencils. During the school holidays, three-month courses are held which cover the content of an entire school year.

PM4Children Projects for earthquake victims in South Asia
Presently the PM4 participants are also supporting the Siemens-UNICEF initiative for the earthquake victims in South Asia with their projects.

The devastating earthquake of October 8 not only took more than 70,000 lives in Pakistan, India and Afghanistan, it also injured countless others who are still waiting for help. After the start of winter, with nightly temperatures hovering around zero degrees, blankets, clothing and drinking water are crucial for the people's survival.

The donations collected by the PM4 participants will help to ensure the survival of children affected by the earthquake.

PM4Children Projects Supporting the Initiative "Schools for Africa"
"We help children" continues to be the motto of the PM4 participants!!

Focus is now on the initiative "Schools for Africa," which was launched by UNICEF and the Nelson Mandela Foundation. Its goal is to enable disadvantaged children in Africa to attend school. In southern Africa alone there are approximately 45 million children who do not go to school. This means that almost every second child grows up behind an invisible wall of ignorance, poverty and discrimination. Here, too, education is the only chance to escape poverty, and it is the most important foundation in the struggle against AIDS. This project promotes the initiative of communities and encourages them to take on responsibility for their own schools.

The donations collected by the PM4Children projects support this initiative directly. UNICEF sponsors support "Schools in Africa" on a long-term basis.

If you want to support the PM4 activities, but you are hindered in visiting one of the events, you can give you donations to the following address:

Siemens trust

Thanks to all PM4 participants, sponsors and cooperators in the name of the Siemens Unicef Initiative and PM@ Siemens.
